Embracing the Wild
Think outside the box? What box? Oh… I lost that box years ago! I must have put it somewhere safe.
I realized quite early in life that I was never going to be like everyone else. I found it to be a surprisingly comforting realization, in a way, because “normal” people didn’t seem to enjoy being normal very much. I would rather be my glorious self… just with less misadventure!
My ADHD is a driving force behind my best and worst features and my story has been a memorable, painful, and humorous journey searching for the tools I needed to flourish in my own flavorful way! I have been consistently frustrated with the lack of resources for adults with ADHD. After years of helping friends and coworkers in their journeys in my spare time I have realized that what I really want is to be the help that I needed and could not find. To make the path smoother for the people who are coming up that trek behind me.
So, I am bringing you all of my experience as a coach, a teacher, a parent, and artist, a storyteller, and a friend. To all of my neuro-divergent brothers and sisters, you are not alone, and you are fabulous! There are tools and strategies that do actually work for us, and I would love nothing better than to help you find the ones that will work best for YOU!
How I can help …
We start with a brief assessment to gauge your executive functions. What are executive functions? Executive functions are the varied skills required to get things done. Something that sounds simple on the surface, like taking a shower, is actually a complex orchestra of brain processes that work together to get the task done… or they don’t work, and you end up doing something else entirely like trying out new hairstyles and accidentally staying up until 2am… totally hypothetical situation!
Once we know what your strengths and weaknesses are I will help you choose the strategies that will best use your strengths to build up the ones that need some help! Some executive functions can be learned or improved, others can be supported and buffered. It is truly amazing what a huge impact some small adjustments can have in our day-to-day lives! What is the first thing you want to see change in yours?
Areas of Expertise
As a Realtor, a Neuro-spicy parent of Neuro-spicy kids, and a teacher I have built up a wealth of experience in those particular areas!
My deep dive into managing my ADHD began when being a stay at home mom of two small children blew all of my coping mechanisms to tatters! I was drowning! When it came to light that my children were also neuro-divergent I was told by doctors and teachers that I would need to teach them executive functions in a much more direct way than I would for a neuro-typical child. “Execu-what?!?!” I did some research and found that I was somehow supposed to teach them skills I DID NOT HAVE!!!!! While I was horrified and annoyed my education and experience as a teacher came to the forefront, my hyper-focus turned on, and here I am today! Loudly and enthusiastically passing on what I learned to not just my kids, but anyone who will listen!
In 2021 I became a Realtor and transaction coordinator and found a shocking number of agents with ADHD who were struggling to juggle the shocking amount of executive function demands that come with working in real estate. While being neuro-divergent actually makes for great agents, it makes for a great deal of stress and mistakes if it is not managed in a healthy way. Taking what I had learned as a teacher and a mom I started helping co-workers create systems in their work-life that supported and strengthened their executive skills and made working in real estate less bumpy and more productive! It is my favorite part of the job!
Having realized that I I took the plunge and started Wild Willow Solutions to make that “part” of my job into what I get to do all day! So know that YOU, my neuro-spicy sisters and brothers, are my dream job! You are the best! I cannot wait to be on this adventure with you!
Your very own co-adventurer and sister,
Kelly Pfister
